Army Veteran
RYT-200
Jack discovered the joy of yoga practice in 2009 after returning from Afghanistan. A retired Army Veteran, Jack now works as a middle school teacher who helps kids with special needs.
Jack started off as a runner, completing 5Ks, marathons, and Tough Mudders, chasing after that “runner’s high,” and adding a yoga practice to his bag of tricks on off days. Later, after divorce and a few other curveballs, he realized that he was dealing with PTSD and moral injury-desperately searching for ways to heal and find peace.
In 2014, working with Veterans groups such as the Wounded Warrior Project and Team Red, White, and Blue-Jack introduced CrossFit and Bikram “Hot Yoga” to his practice. Over time, the amazing mental, physical, and emotional benefits of yoga practice showed him the wonderful improvements for those dealing with Post Traumatic Stress or other trauma.
Jack emerged as a leader in the Veteran community, reaping the reward of helping himself to heal by helping others- finding his niche by paying it forward and continuing a life of service to others.
In 2019, Jack started his 200-hour certification with Bent Dog Yoga for the Bikram and Vinyasa styles of yoga and is interested in learning about Yin.
Jack completed his initial training in 2020, and additional professional development hours with TRIBE yoga for the military.
Most recently, Jack attended the Power Breath Workshop with Project Welcome Home Troops and started adding breathwork to his daily practice and yoga classes. It REALLY works!
Jack now serves as the Chapter Captain for Team RWB Chicago, volunteers to teach weekly vinyasa yoga classes with the PiE Project Foundation, and is now also working with TRIBE.
Jack also enjoys hunting, fishing, outdoor adventures, military history, and mostly spending time with friends and family to enjoy life.
